Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The manuscript is original, has not been previously published, and is not under consideration by another journal.
  • The manuscript falls within the journal's Focus and Scope and follows the official LOCUS article template.
  • The manuscript meets the journal's formatting and structural requirements. Manuscripts submitted in a language other than English require prior editorial approval and must be translated into academic English, with the authors' verification, before publication.
  • The manuscript file is submitted in Microsoft Word (.docx) format and has been anonymized for double-anonymous peer review.
  • All citations and references follow APA 7th edition, and reference DOIs or URLs are provided where available.
  • All authors meet the authorship criteria, have approved the submission, and have provided accurate information in OJS.
  • Ethical approval, informed consent, funding, conflicts of interest, data availability, author contributions, and AI-use declarations are provided where applicable.
  • The authors have read and agree to the journal's Publication Ethics, Peer Review Process, Copyright and Licensing Policy, and other applicable submission policies.

Author Guidelines

AUTHOR GUIDELINES

Locus Journal of Academic Literature Review (JALR) welcomes original research articles and scholarly review articles within the disciplines specified in the journal's Focus and Scope. All submissions must demonstrate academic originality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, and a substantive contribution to knowledge.

  1. LANGUAGE AND MANUSCRIPT REQUIREMENTS

Manuscripts must be written in clear academic English.

The recommended manuscript length is 4,000–8,000 words, including the abstract and main text but excluding references.

Manuscripts should use the official LOCUS article template with Cambria 12-point font, 1.15 line spacing, justified paragraphs, and consistent headings.

The title should preferably contain no more than 14 words. Abstracts should not exceed 200 words and must be followed by 4–6 keywords.

  1. MANUSCRIPT STRUCTURE

Original Research Articles:
Title; Abstract; Keywords; Introduction; Research Methods; Results and Discussion; Conclusion; References; and applicable declarations.

Scholarly Review Articles:
Title; Abstract; Keywords; Introduction; Review Methodology; Thematic Analysis and Discussion; Conclusion; References; and applicable declarations.

All manuscripts must explain their methodology clearly and appropriately for the research design.

  1. CITATIONS AND REFERENCES

The journal uses the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th edition referencing style.

All in-text citations must correspond to entries in the reference list. Authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as Zotero or Mendeley.

References should be accurate, relevant, verifiable, and appropriate to the manuscript's academic field.

  1. DOUBLE-ANONYMOUS PEER REVIEW

The journal applies double-anonymous peer review.

Authors must remove their names, affiliations, acknowledgements that reveal identity, and other identifying information from the manuscript submitted for review.

Author identities and institutional affiliations must be entered accurately in the OJS submission metadata and any designated title-page document.

  1. RESEARCH INTEGRITY AND ORIGINALITY

Submitted manuscripts must be original, must not have been published previously, and must not be under consideration by another journal.

All submissions are subject to similarity screening and editorial evaluation. Similarity percentages are not treated as automatic evidence of plagiarism.

Fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, duplicate publication, citation manipulation, and inappropriate authorship practices are prohibited.

  1. AUTHORSHIP AND REQUIRED DECLARATIONS

All listed authors must meet the journal's authorship criteria and approve the submitted manuscript.

Where applicable, manuscripts must provide statements concerning author contributions, funding, conflicts of interest, ethical approval, informed consent, data availability, and artificial intelligence use.

Authors remain responsible for the accuracy, legality, and integrity of their submissions.

  1. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE USE

Any relevant use of generative artificial intelligence must be disclosed in accordance with the journal's AI Policy.

AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Authors remain fully accountable for all manuscript content, citations, analyses, and conclusions.

  1. COPYRIGHT AND OPEN ACCESS

Authors retain copyright and grant the journal the right of first publication.

Published articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).

  1. EDITORIAL PROCESS

Submissions undergo initial editorial screening followed, where appropriate, by independent peer review.

The journal targets three independent reviewers for manuscripts proceeding to external review.

Authors may be requested to revise manuscripts and provide point-by-point responses to reviewer comments.

Acceptance is based on scholarly merit, satisfactory revision, ethical compliance, and editorial judgment.

  1. SUBMISSION

Authors must submit manuscripts through the journal's online submission system:

Before submission, authors must ensure that the manuscript follows the official LOCUS template and all applicable journal policies.

Manuscripts that do not comply with these requirements may be returned for correction or declined during initial editorial screening.
